journal contribution
posted on 2023-07-26, 13:05 authored by Nora CrookThe article focuses on the use of "To--" as concealment of the poem's addressee by author and poet Mary Shelley. It states that the concealment using "To--," initials, and pseudonym sometimes cause uncomfortable Romantic investment concerning sincerity and truth-telling. It further discusses that the poem "Thy Little Footsteps on the Sands" by Shelley which was previously titled "To William Shelley" was addressed to Fanny Godwin revealed by G. M. Matthews.
