chapter
posted on 2023-07-26, 12:51 authored by Amelia Oldfield
The author looks at parents' peception of being in music therapy sessions with their children. She examines the original reasons for coming to music therapy, the parents' intial uncertainties, the effects of the child's enjoyment of music making on the parent, non-verbal ways of interacting in the sessions, and containing and addressing difficult behaviours. The conclusion that is drawn is that it is through working in partnership with the parents that the work is most effective.
