Change and uncertainty are the future as the word economy adjusts to a dynamic, post-industrial global environment. Governments are reacting and through top down reforms are moving schools into that uncertain territory between stability and chaos. For schools to meet the challenge heads, teachers and other staff should become reflective, collaborative lifelong learners. This article is therefore about continuing professional development. It is not about ICT but it is about ways ICT can be used to promote continuing professional development. It examines the transformation of continuing professional development from attending a course to promoting lifelong learning and collaboration. It looks at ongoing knowledge sharing reforms in Denmark and the seminal work with ICT being done by the English National College of School Leadership (NCSL). It looks at how Ultraversity is using the opportunity offered by ‘remodelling the workforce’ in England to help develop metalearners and change the perception of change.
