Abstract

Purpose of study: Independent research study undertaken as part of a thesis for a doctorate in education 2017. The literature review was undertaken to collate results from current research studies undertaken by multi-professionals across the disciplines. The collective insightful knowledge gained by the researcher will be shared at the conference Method of study: The experiences of student nurses with dyslexia in the clinical learning environment. Mixed-methods e-survey (SPSS) & Semi-structured interviews (interpretative phenomenology). Supervised doctoral degree at London South Bank University Results and Conclusion: The literature review collated the evidence-base from world-wide multiple disciplines to make sense of what developmental dyslexia is according to multiple perspectives (including psychologists, educationalists and inter-professional neuros-scientists +more). Viewed in this way the research results offer an integrated understanding of developmental dyslexia rather than a fragmentation on the signs & symptoms, diagnostics, 'treatments' etc.
